The decoration of King in Piedmont will always be close to my heart. Situated on top of a hill with sweeping San Francisco bay views and nonstop streaming light. Large scale rooms defined by columns and archways with huge windows welcoming the outside in. This was the perfect setting for RH furnishings — accenting the old world ambiance. The RH fabric, Belgian Linen Sand, offers timeless perfection. I literally can’t get enough of this fabric! It goes with everything and is so soft it glows. The look I was after here was understated elegance — this is where wealth resides.
King is a decorator’s dream with its large formal rooms separated by multi-paned glass pocket doors. I directed my efforts toward creating a balanced serene environment accented by stunning flowers. Multiple seating areas grouped together in each room create intimate conversation areas. My recurring theme is to bring nature in.
White orchids mixed with dusty pink striped twisted multi-spiked beauties. Everything you read about orchids says they like a diffused indirect light. Here, they thrived in the bright western exposure and reflections of the bay.
In the dining area, I wanted to have a large table suitable for a candle lit sit down dinner. Again, I worked with the RH Hudson Parson slip covered chairs in Belgian Linen Sand paired with a huge rectangular glass table, which I hunted for and finally found at a private estate in Orinda. The antique double wall sconces surrounding the room added an incredible glow. The room was so exquisite that I brought in a full table setting awaiting a special holiday celebration.
The ambiance of the back yard with potted fragrant lemon trees, boxes of blooming lavender, an aviary cage and serene pool completed the setting of this incredible home! What a treat!
